Honeybees & Apiary Tour

Overview

Join beekeeper, Brian Gleichauf, in a 1.5 hour journey into the wonder of honeybees, at the height of the nectar flow season! We will spend some time in the classroom learning about the amazing lives of a honeybee “colony” (perhaps better described as a honeybee collective, or superorganism), look at some incredible photography of honeybees up close, and learn about their mysterious and wonderful behaviors that make the honeybee much more than a “honey producer”. After our classroom time, we will do a walking tour of the Bub’s Honey hives at Eco-Justice Center. See the bees in action as we open up some hives to have a peek! Observing honeybees is simultaneously a scientific and meditative/inspirational activity. Come to be refreshed, and to develop your own relationship to these amazing insects that provide the world with such sweetness! There will also be an opportunity to purchase Bub’s honey while you are here, and to learn about other products Bub's Honey will soon offer. Date: Sunday August 14 at 1:00pm Pre-registration required Cost: $25/person
