Fundamentals of Painting: 8 Thursdays, Sept 29 - Nov 17

  • 2519 Northwestern Avenue
  • Racine, WI

This class is a foundations class dealing with the basic principles of painting. Students will be asked to complete exercises that will explore composition, value, color, line, and texture while working from direct observation. Acrylic, oil, or other opaque paints are recommended (not transparent watercolor). The class will touch on the time-honored techniques of the European masters to create representational images, but will also explore movements into abstraction. The overriding goal is to equip the student with a basic knowledge of painting, demystify the process, and create the confidence to tackle independent projects. Teens age 14 and older may take most adult classes; some require teacher’s consent. Mask wearing is currently optional, but may change with City of Racine mandates. Supply list provided.
