In the contemporary context of a pandemic, the idea that a virus could “take over” has been top of mind for many people. The concept of organic invasion or intrusion is not necessarily limited to biological subjects. Playing to this idea and responding to the upcoming exhibition, Alien Invasion: (Un)Familiar Forms in Contemporary Art, Racine Art Museum and RAM’s Wustum Museum invited artists to take part in the second RAM Virtual Community Art Show. In response, 58 artists from across the world submitted 57 works that touch upon the idea of organic invasion and intrusion. With a wide variety of materials represented, these works reflect the originality and imagination of contemporary artists from across the globe.
Viewers are encouraged to vote for their favorite works throughout the formal run of the virtual exhibition. The three artists whose artwork is voted as Audience Favorites will receive gift certificates for free studio art classes. Winners will be announced at the end of the show.
