Revitalize Racine: The Vital Art Project
- 1339, 1504-1510 Washington Ave
- 1402 Washington Ave
- Racine, WI
The Vital Art Project, serves to define two projects- a renewal of the Uptown Commercial district and its independence from old typologies, and the introduction of active art to tired buildings. Both projects are equally dedicated of purpose, bold in invention, steadfast in their harmony. The link between Racine Revitalization Partnership and The Vital Art Project promises to result in a vibrant image of Uptown. The RRP is lucid in planning and space design, aiming to make quality housing accessible in the historical area. The Vital Art Project appeals to other human dreams and relates effortlessly and fearlessly to art and architecture bringing a world view to Racine.
For one month, September 30- October 31, the Project will ask questions about the complex nature of the transformation of community and culture, public policy and self. The physicality, power and spirit of the exhibition- all the components which are perceived as the symbiotic whole- will ignite our social consciousness. Programs, such as an art demonstration using recycled materials and poetry readings concerned with social justice, will facilitate interactive experiences between audience and place.
The Vital Art Project will open on Saturday, Sept. 30 in conjunction with the Treasures of Uptown street festival. Opening activities include an artist print and paper making demonstration at 1 p.m. at 1504-1510 Washington Ave, an artist talk at 2:30 p.m. at 1339 Washington Ave, and an artist reception at 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at 1504-1510 Washington Ave.
