"Blithe Spirit" described as "an improbabable farce" is presented by the Racine Theatre Guild over three weekends, Sept. 14 through 30. Written by Noel Coward in 1941, this play has been produced twice before in 1946 and 1978. This production is directed by Jennifer Sassaman.
A skeptic at heart, the novelist Charles Condomine invites self-proclaimed medium, Madam Arcati to his home to research a séance. Not only is she surprisingly successful, she accidentally helps Charles conjure the spirit of his late wife, Elvira, much to the displeasure of his new wife, Ruth. As Elvira relentlessly haunts Ruth and tries to keep Charles all to herself, things go awry in this funny, otherworldly classic that will tickle your goosebumps!
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays. Additonal shows are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 22 and 29; and 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 23.
