OBJECTS REDUX: 50 Years After OBJECTS: USA Defined American Craft

  • 441 Main St.
  • Racine, WI
Overview

Revisiting an ambitious large-scale project from 50 years ago, OBJECTS REDUX combines work featured in the landmark craft exhibition, OBJECTS: USA with works featured in a related sales catalog. Drawing on RAM’s collection, as well as generous lenders from the Racine area, this exhibition investigates how the public was introduced to late twentieth-century craft as a field that was as interested in personal, material, and aesthetic concerns, as well as functional ones. Artists whose works are featured include Wendell Castle, Arline Fisch, Trudy Guermonprez, Sam Maloof, Walter Nottingham, Don Reitz, and Dorian Zachai.
