The Great Pumpkin Chuckin Festival celebrates all things pumpkin!! Pumpkin bake-off, pumpkin decorating, pie contest and a chili cook-off. Kids activities include hay rides, carnival rides, costume contest and games. Arts, crafts, local businesses, great food and seasonal beers available. Saturday night dance with an adult costume contest.
Don't miss the exciting Pumpkin Chuckin competition. A captain and three other team members will build a machine to launch an 8 – 10 pound pumpkin. There will be three Chucker Divisions – one for each type of machine: Trebuchet, Catapult, and Slingshot.
The Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned Great Midwest BBQ cookoff is back! Teams from throughout the region will compete for $7,000 in prizes - cooking up ribs, pork, chicken and beef brisket. The winners will be announced at 4 p.m. Saturday. Some of the teams will be selling their BBQ cooking on Sunday.
New for 2018! The Giant Pumpkin Drop at 11 a.m. Sunday. Watch as a possible record-setting pumpkin is dropped from high in the air atop a crane donated by Kruk Inc. (The world record pumpkin from 2016 was 2,624.6 lbs. grown in Belgium).
Festival hours are: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Free admission both days - courtesy of the Greater Union Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and Racine County Agricultural Society.
