Burlington's annual Maxwell Street Days features new events and activities for 2018!
Burlington merchants are excited about one of their largest retail events of the year. They'll be taking markdowns on seasonal merchandise and moving it to the streets on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fabulous finds will be at all of Burlington's shopping areas -- Burlington Square, Fox River Plaza, Pinecrest Shopping Center and many areas in between will be available to interested shoppers. Look for Community Yard Sales all over town!
New for 2018 is the Chalk Walk on Saturday. Budding artists of all ages are invited to showcase their artistry in sidewak chalk. Because space is limited, advance reservations through the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce is recommended. Onsite registration will be offered from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday.
The new Rubber Duckie Dash offers a chance to win cash starting at 1 p.m. Saturday from below the Echo Lake Dam. Duck numbers may be purchased for $5 each or three for $10. The holder of the first duck number to cross the downsteam finish line gets half the money raised. (The rest of the proceeds go to the City of Burlington Fire Department, Burlington Rescue Squad and the Chamber of Commerce). Duck numbers are available at the Chamber and local businesses (look for the signs).
The Chocolate City Clue Quest starting at 10 a.m. Saturday gives individuals or teams (up to six members) a chance to show off how well they know Downtown Burlington. Participants will receive text message clues to solve. Prizes will be given to the winners. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Chamber office, 113 Chestnut St.
Saturday also includes a vintage car and truck show along the Downtown streets and there’s an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social hosted by the Burlington Historical Society at the Pioneer Cabin in Wehmhoff Square Park.
