Beginner's Hand-building Ceramics

Overview

Learn to make objects in clay using only your hands and tools. Explore primitive forming techniques such as slab, coiling, and pinching methods to create functional and sculptural ceramic art. Decoration and glazing basics will be covered. This is a low impact, very calming way to make with clay. Clay, glazes and firings included in class fee. Teenagers, age 14 and older, may take most adult classes; some require teacher’s consent.
Must wear mask at all times. Class size is limited to promote safe social distancing. When registering, you must designate a spot for either hand-building OR potter’s wheel.

Online registration closes three business days before class begins. You may also call 262-636-9177 to check for class availability, and to register, Tuesdays through Fridays, 10:00 am – 4:30 pm, or Saturdays, noon to 4:00 pm. Classes are held at RAM’s Wustum Museum, 2519 Northwestern Avenue, Racine.
