Make plans now to attend Open House Racine (OHRC), a one-day, free exploration of the county's most interesting places from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 6.

Visitors to OHRC 2017 will have access to more than 60 local treasures, including such popular sites from last year's event as the Chocolate Experience Museum in downtown Burlington, rural Rochester's Earthcare Suri Alpacas, the Racine Masonic Center (Henry S. Durand Mansion), the Racine Fire Department headquarters and the famous Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Wingspread home in Wind Point.

New sites added

Among the new sites to OHRC are the Spectrum School of the Arts located at the DeKoven Center in Racine, Burlington's Spinning Top Museum, the VFW Veterans Museum and Oak Clearing Farm (recently featured on the cable TV show "American Pickers") near Union Grove.

Visit the OHRC website ( to select your own itinerary from unusual businesses, architectural gems and civic buildings. Each site on the OHRC 2017 tour will be identified by an external 3-foot by 5-foot banner bearing the event's logo. Visitors will be greeted by volunteers/representatives from each site. In addition, each location will appear in a newspaper insert in early May.
