Spring has sprung in Racine County, despite the temperature. This weekend brings First Friday, an antique appraisal, comedy and a fundraiser. Come along with Real Racine.
The first First. We've been waiting all winter for First Friday in Downtown Racine. Stop by from 4 to 9 p.m. THIS Friday for shopping, horse drawn carriage rides, art exhibits and much more. The Racine Art Museum (RAM), 441 Main St., has free admission all day (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.) so you can take in the 7th Annual International PEEPS Art Exhibition. You'll find food and beverage specials throughout the downtown area as well as live music at Divino Gelato, Uncorkt and Third Coast Pizza & Pub. Chalk up the cue stick. The annual Pool for Vets events gets under way at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fountain Hall, 8505 Durand Ave., Sturtevant. This Scotch doubles pool tournament is $20 per player and includes a $10 donation and $10 toward cash prizes. There are also door prizes and 50-50 raffles. What's it worth? Have you ever wondered about the value of that old lamp or carved picture frame? You'll have a chance to find out from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Absolutely Waterford's second annual Appraisal Fair at Waterford High School, 100 Field Drive. Certified appraisers will be on hand to evaluate all sorts of items at $10 per appraisal. There will also be vintage and antique dealer booths, free workshops and food for sale. Have a laugh. Area comedians take the stage Friday night for the Comedy Showcase at George's Tavern, 1201 N. Main St. Dan Nielsen, Christopher Schmidt, Joe Murphy and Levi Yoder are on the bill. Admission is just $5 per person. The laughs start at 9 p.m.
