Open House Racine County - an exploration day

Everyone is invited to Open House Racine County 2017 on Saturday, May 6. It's a free one-day exploration of 60+ interesting sites across the county. Take a "Family Field Trip" to an alpaca farm,  a vintage blacksmith shop, fire stations and more. If you love architecture, you'll be able to tour two of Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic works plus as many as five distinct churches. Pancakes are a hometown classic

Take in a hometown classic. Kiwanis Pancake Day will literally feed thousands at Racine's Festival Hall, 5 Fifth St., on Saturday, May 6 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. This all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage meal is must-stop for politicians and people from across the spectrum. There is continuous local entertainment on stage and the champion pancake flippers are a show themselves! Admission is $8 at the door. Kids ages 4 and younger eat free.

 

Enjoy two musicals

Musical theater is in the air this month. "Legally Blonde - the Musical", based on the popular movie, is a delightful story of a not-so-dumb blonde who tackles stereotypes and snobbery to pursue her dreams. Performances are on weekends  May 4-21 by the Burlington's Haylofters at the Malt House Theatre, 109 N. Main St. Tickets and show times at www.thehaylofters.com  The Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave., brings the Broadway smash hit "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" to life on weekends May 12-28. A terrific trio

See a terrific trio as the Choral Arts Society of Southeast Wisconsin presents "An American Pastiche" at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Racine Masonic Center, 1012 Main St. The CAS chorus will be joined by local singer/songwriters Jeff Ward, Mark Paffrath and Zachary Scot Johnson in a program of folk, classical, Celtic. blues and original compositions. Celebrating with chocolate

The month wraps up with a celebration of all things chocolate! Burlington ChocolateFest, Friday, May 26 through Monday, May 29. presents chocolate cookies, chocolate games, chocolate eating contests and a chocolate marketplace.
